Robert Priester

Chief European Representative and Regulatory Counsel, IIF

Robert Priester joined the Institute of International Finance (IIF) in September 2017 as Chief European Representative and Regulatory Counsel in the newly opened Brussels IIF office.

Before joining the IIF, Robert was Deputy Chief Executive of the European Banking Federation, having joined the EBF in 2005 as Head of Legal Department before becoming Executive Director of the Wholesale and Regulatory Policy Department in 2007 and finally Deputy Chief Executive in October 2013. Robert has been a member of the ECB’s Bond Market Contact Group (2013) and a member of EBA’s Banking Stakeholder Group (2014-2016). Robert holds a degree in International and European Law from Leiden University in the Netherlands. Before joining the EBF in 2005, Robert held various positions at the European Fund and Asset Management Association for five years and at Insurance Europe for six years. He started his lobby career in Brussels at the European Savings Banks Group in 1991. Robert is a Dutch national.
