Ulrich “Ueli” Maurer is a Swiss politician who served as President of the Swiss Confederation in 2013 and 2019 and as Vice President of the Swiss Confederation in 2012 and 2018.
Chair of the Swiss People’s Party (SVP/UDC) from 1996 to 2008, he has been a Member of the Swiss Federal Council since 2009.
Mr Maurer has served as Head of the Federal Department of Finance since 2016. He was previously the Head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports (2009–2015).
